TFS 2008 on Windows Server 2008 (Longhorn) - A Few Tips

The 4 Day Restore From Backup - Something Seems Wrong

I have a TFS server running on a virtual server that I recently wanted to restore from a know backup and was surprised when the Acronis software told me it would take 4 days. That's right- 4 days! Here is how it all went down. I had made a full backup

Invitation for Thoughts on 'How do you branch for code promotions and handle your build definitions and common build scripts'

The title says it all. I have been playing around with a number of scenarios of how to best handle code promotion branches, or any other branch for that matter in which you need to ensure that your build script versions stay in tact with that branch.

TFS 2008 on Windows Server 2008

Today I am doing some install and run tests of TFS 2008 on Windows Server 2008. I just finished installing the OS and now need to get it configured into my home network. What is interesting that I am running it under Virtual Server 2005 R2 on Windows

A great use for the Team Build 2008 option for build on every check-in

Other than the obvious strict CI use of setting a build type to queue a build on every check-in I have found it exceptionally useful for actually maintaining my common build scripts. If you have build scripts you use across build types (.targets etc)
